Basically i'm worried about the amount of money ill need.

I have 10 days to travel, hoping to go to miami and then new york!

Now do you reckon its possible to save about $100 a week in ages whilst there?

That would give me enough for the hostels and what I want to do I think

If you're careful and don't spend any money unnecessarily (as in only spending on essentials such as food) then it's probably do-able. it just depends how good you are at budgeting and sticking to it.

u dont wanna be doing the program and worrying about how much uve gotta save, thats how i felt when i was booking all my travelling anyway and i was planning to travel for 28 days, i think if u were trying to do all that in 10 days itd be a bit of a struggle cos u wouldn't really get to see much of new york and u'd probably spend most of ur time travelling x

you'd be surprised at how much of New york you can see in no time at all. If you fly to Miami and NY you'd spend a total of 1 day travelling tops. It's easily doable, just requires planning. If you scout around the cheap airlines (e.g. Southwest etc) you can probably find some fairly cheap flights.

I'm not planning on booking anything til I'm in Florida and may possibly meet some people who want to go to New York afterwards. I'll only be able to go for a few days, but I deffo wanna go!
Is leaving it til the last minute- til I'm over there a wise idea?

You've probably picked 2 of the most expensive places to visit in the USA. Miami is good fun but South Beach is expensive and super posy. It's good for 1 (maybe 2) night(s) on the lash then you'll probably want to run away screaming.
You can get the train from Orlando to Miami in about 5hrs which is a pretty good journey and no changes on the train. Check www.amtrak.com - it'll be cheaper than a flight plus far more interesting, especially if you have brekkie in the dining car as you have to sit with others - I've always met really interesting people on Amtrak.

New York - you'll be done in 4 days straight. The hostels are a bit hit & miss in my experience (10 trips to NYC, 6 different hostels). The smaller ones are better than the Hostelling International which is HUGE. There's no atmosphere and if you're on your own you'll struggle to meet/talk to anyone.

Personally - hit Washington D.C. Far more character, more to see/do, equally as good shopping. There's also really good rail links between Washington > NYC > Boston.

Money-wise: Amtrak is a cheap way to travel, hostels the best way to stay.

i guess if ur just on ur own travelling and seeing stuff u could dash and go with the flow, c what u wanna see, but im going with my bf, we want to take it all in, relax and have it all organized before we go, plus i didn't wanna be working for disney trying to save money so i was on a budget booking it all now, i tried to sort out new york but it was soo much hassle getting hostels sorted, travelling sorted, transfers to the hostel from where u get off, and working out how much u need to save at disney. blah blah blah im gunna go c the country when im 21, makes more sense! lol x

Sofi - I think you've been doing something not quite right here. NYC is one of the easiest cities in USA to navigate. Hostels are well located and easily reached by train (Amtrak to Penn Station, then Subway), Bus (Greyhound to Port Authority then taxi, subway or walk). What was it you found so confusing and such a hassle?

well, on a budget trying to find something central that didn't cost too much and meant i could share a room with my bf. i think if ur on ur own its a lot easier but if ur wanting to stay in a nice room with no strangers its not as easy x
