Hey guys! I'm going on the ICP this year as a Character Performer. I'm pretty psyched about it cause that was my first choice but I've read around here that there's an audition process once u get to Orlando... Can anybody walk me thru it please? I'm a little worried since i've never done any dance or drama or anything :-\ thank u
im going june 21st and as far as i know, you have to do a simple dance audition and a physical animationy mimey thing too...im constantly being told its really easy but im still terrified!
:-[ me too! im dead clumsy! hopefully they'll think my clumsiness is funny hahaha do u know what characters u'r gonna be friends with yet?
There's lots of posts about it on here! Quick rundown: *ICPs get a letter not a number but we are in with all the other daily auditionees - ie very varied in skill/experience. *movement workshop, taught a 16 count sequence (VERY simple) *practice across the room (small world remix about 40 times no joke) *actual 'performance' across the room in front of panel *wait *some numbers called for extended dance audition *about half of remainder taken away to be informe about 'other areas in the company' *rest of us do animation workshop *practice with music - about 2mins animation to given scenario *ICPs go first in front of panel (eveyone else clears the room for ani auditions) *wait in a little room to hear our fate! have a search and I did a pretty comprehensive version. But that's all it is. See you out there! What date are you going, Lucy?
LOL as you asked for a walkthrough... movement audition (last years anyway) *march forward for 4 *box step, waving arms around *skip forward for 4 *pivot turn That. Is it!
hahahaha thanks Tiddelypom! I get in on the 26th of may! only 6 weeks to go! cant believe i'm actually writing the steps for the movement audition down! hahahaha i'm dead clumsy so i'll need to practice! hahaha scared out of my mind! so only half actually get to be character performers? thats so sad!
Disclaimer: sequence could have changed this year! when I say half are taken to be informed of other areas, it just means the other half get through to the next bit of the audition. After that they wait to hear if they got the job. They have these auditions pretty much every day so they can't have half get it! I know a lot of people are pooled so can be called on if they need more people. However they are on a hiring freeze at the moment so I doubt they have the auditions as frequently now.
:-\ well its really no use worrying now... so i'll just do my best at the audition and hopefully pass it! and if i dont, i still get to work in disney world hahaha sooo hakuna matata! thanks tiddelypom! really appreciate all the info
No problem, I'll see you in the Zoo - by the time we're out you'll be a seasoned pro What's your height?
hahaha the Zoo! i'm somewhere around 5'1 and 5'3... don't know exactly but i suppose u just wear whatever fits right? haha
Depending on how they measure you (which is a very dubious method and always done in favour of what they need more of!) you will be a tall mouse/duck or short pooh/munk... man I love these terms! Possibly lots of Playhouse work over in DHS *jealous* The Zoo is the (?affectionate?!) nickname for MK character base! In Studios its called the Toy Box hehe and ents costuming there is the Toy Chest! See - gotta love these names!
hahaha jealous of the Playhouse work? hahaha why? because of the little kids? awww how cute! cant wait to see their little faces haha hhahaha yeah! the names are amazing! hahaha whats the name for the AK character base? if there is one.. i dont know hahaha
hahahaha yeah classy! think the other names were better hahaha so when do u get to orlando? i suppose u'll be the same characters u were last time?
